Gender Representation in Horror Clip

Gender Representation in Horror Clip

Men and women are presented differently in the media, both genders have stereotypes that are portrayed in movies. Usually, women are presented as objects, and they are mainly sexually and emotionally presented, their appearance is usually beautiful young lady, who only cares about emotions and boys. However, men are usually presented as tough and less emotional, they are usually seen with a group of friends and there is one person from the group that sees himself as a leader and the rest are his followers.

Males are usually seen as the hero in the and females are usually seen as passive and the damsel in distress. However, in the horror genre genders are presented differently, the leading protagonist turns out to be a female, but usually the female is not alone she is part of a group. The age can also affect the representation of genders, females usually tend to be young, white females, the opposite of males, they are shown in a variety of races and ages. The clip below shows the representation of males and females in a horror film.

The clip below shows the representation of males and females in a horror film. The females are portrayed as objects, and only seem to think about boys and their emotions, and it is clear to see that there are only two females who are both young and there are a group of males, from different races, and the there is one male who assumes that he is the leader of the group.
