Individual Representation on Initial Ideas

Before any ideas were brainstormed, we decided the number of people that we will be using for the casting. This then influenced our initial ideas, as the ideas we came up with, will then only use the number of casting characters my partner and I chose. We came up with two ideas and then narrowed it down to one, the one that we chose in the end will be the idea that was narrowed down.The first initial idea that my partner and I chose was inspired by the TV show 'Pretty Little Liars'. There are five friends that live in a small town in Pennsylvania called Rosewood. Out of these five girls the leader disappears, in a turn of events the four remaining girls begin to receive threatening messages from a persona called 'A'. The girls begin to search for their leader and at the same time figure out who A is. This TV show influenced my groups first idea because we decided that the idea of Pretty Little Liars as a horror would be a good idea. We were influenced by this idea because the idea of the horror film being targeted more at females than males would mean that the film itself would be targeting a whole different audience than a regular horror movie.Another idea that my partner and I came up with was more focusing on death and emotions. As death effects everyone at least once in their lives we thought using this idea will not only emotionally cause a reaction from the audience but also as the genre is horror, my partner and I decided to make the idea of death more morbid. We focused the idea on the death of a friend, but later on the group of friends realize the that it was no accident, this was a murder they were dealing with. The friends then make it their mission to find out what happened to their friend on the last days of their life. However, on the way they find out information that they wish they hadn't.Both ideas are similar, but each idea focuses on a different concept, and this is what makes them different from each other.
